The Groningen Declaration Network First Timers Event is a new event for the Annual Meeting program. The event allows for new members and guests to engage in important networking, consolidate relationships, share stories of projects, and initiate connections. In true Melbourne style, proceedings begin with a five-star lunch at acclaimed restaurant Nobu at Crown, before a short boat ride up the Yarra River to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground for the annual Anzac Day Australian Football League match (Australia Rules).

The Welcome Reception is the official opening of the three-day international annual meeting and will be held on campus at The University of Melbourne. As a particularly Australasian feature of many conferences, this reception will introduce participants to the networking and capacity-building nature of the conference and its theme: Expanding Engagement.

We invite you to begin the second day of the Groningen Declaration Network Annual Meeting sharing the company of selected meeting guests and Australia’s favourite marsupial. Invitees will have private access to Melbourne Zoo before it opens to the public and guests can meet passionate and knowledgeable zookeepers for a koala presentation and photo opportunities. Zookeepers will share quirky facts about these amazing Australian animals – a talking point for local and international guests alike.
Following a buffet-style breakfast served on the Koala viewing platform guests will also have the opportunity to meet the Kangaroos at Melbourne Zoo, before being returned via private transport to the meeting venue in Parkville. (Transfers will also be provided to the Zoo)
The event has capacity for 40 meeting guests. Register your interest, final attendance will be determined by ballot.

The Dinner is an opportunity for members and guests to engage in important networking, consolidate relationships, share stories of projects, and make new connections. As an international event, this is also an opportunity to showcase the best of Melbourne as a cultural capital, with the event being held at the National Gallery of Victoria and inclusive of a private viewing of the Indigenous art collection.
